Built for Iowa dental practice owners
You get a CPA who reads a dental P&L and KPIs the way you read an X-ray, spotting the overhead creep, the supply-cost drift, and the tax dollars left on the table. That is a different thing from a local generalist who treats your practice like any other small business. Distance isn't the variable that decides your bottom line. Specialization is.
What we handle
- Monthly bookkeeping and dentist-specific financial statements you can actually read.
- Proactive tax planning and S-corp strategy built around a practice, not a generic business.
- Startup and first-year accounting for owners buying or opening a practice.
- Overhead and profitability benchmarking against real dental norms.
- Entity selection advice and owner-compensation planning.
- Quarterly advisory: the two or three metrics that actually move your profit.

3. You run the practice
A CPA on call, so you run the practice instead of the spreadsheet.
Iowa's tax overhaul changed the math for every practice owner
Iowa now taxes individual income at a flat 3.8%, down from a top rate of 8.53% just a few years ago. If your practice is an S-corp or partnership, Iowa also offers an elective pass-through entity tax with a refundable owner credit, a workaround for the federal SALT deduction cap. C-corp rates in Iowa run 5.5% to 7.1%, one more reason the pass-through question is worth an actual analysis rather than an inherited default.
A plan built under the old rates is quietly wrong now. Estimated payments, owner compensation, retirement contributions, entity choice: all of it deserves a re-run under the 3.8% math. If your tax plan hasn't changed since before 2023, it never met the current law.
Iowa is still an owner's state, too. About 8% of Iowa dentists are affiliated with a DSO, against roughly 16% nationally, according to the ADA Health Policy Institute's 2024 workforce data. The owners who run on real numbers are the ones who keep it that way.
Frequently asked questions
Why would I hire a Texas CPA for my Iowa practice?
Because dental accounting is a specialty, not a zip code. Everything runs remotely: secure cloud bookkeeping, e-signature, and video meetings. You get a CPA who works exclusively with dental practices instead of a generalist who sees one dental P&L a year.
What does it cost?
A flat monthly fee starting at $2,500/month, billed the same every month. Start-up and de novo practices have a separate pricing tier. Ask on the call.
I'm buying a practice in Iowa. When should a CPA get involved?
Before you sign. We advise on entity selection, plan owner compensation, and build a first-year tax plan so the practice starts on clean books.
