Annual retirement and benefit limits, 2021 to 2027

Every 401(k), catch up, IRA, HSA and Social Security figure for each year, on one page you can switch by year. Updated each November from the IRS and SSA releases.

The page

Open the live reference: limits.parkhurstconsulting.com. Pick the year at the top; every row updates. It carries the 401(k) deferral and catch ups (including the ages 60 to 63 catch up), the annual additions and compensation limits, SIMPLE IRA, IRA and Roth IRA with the phase out ranges, the HCE threshold, the defined benefit limit, HSA and HDHP figures, the Social Security wage base and the standard deduction, each with its IRS notice or revenue procedure.

401(k) deferral limit by year, 2024 to 2027

How to use it

  • Planning the year: the maximum your practice 401(k) can take from you and for you is the first number in any owner pay conversation.
  • Payroll setup: the catch up ages and the compensation limit decide what the payroll company should be capping.
  • HSA: the family contribution and the HDHP minimum deductible change most years; check before open enrollment.

What is still pending

The IRS retirement limits for the coming year are usually released in late October or November and the page marks any figure not yet published as pending rather than guessing. Nothing on it is an estimate.
